What is hospital?
Hospital is a health care institution/system,which will provide the medical treatment to the patients with specialized staff and medical equipment.The word hospital originates from the Latin hospes, means guest/stranger and the word patient means patior, which is to suffer.The abbreviation for the hospital is hosp. and H.
The first hospital was started in the year 1664 and named as Government General Hospital, officially named Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital ( RGGGH ), is a major state-owned hospital situated in Chennai, India.Hospital consist with 3000 beds is funded and managed by the state government of Tamil Nadu. Founded by the British East India Company, it is the first medical institution in India. In the 19th century, the Madras Medical College joined it.

     Medical facility smaller than a hospital is generally called as clinic, and often run by a government agency for health services or else private partnership of physicians. Specialized hospitals will help to reduce health care costs compared to the general hospitals. Some specialized and teaching hospitals are affiliated with the universities for medical research and training of medical personnel such as physicians and nurses.
